xmlns:fb='http://ogp.me/ns/fb#' [k8.Photography]: Why Photography?

Why Photography?

Learning new things has always been a joy for me. I have thrived on creating my own way in life. I have always been a very confident and outgoing person. I get along with many different people and enjoy hearing about their life. I am almost 20 years old and have been blessed to experience many different life adventures. Such as: sailing on small boats (16'), medium boats (27') and big tall ships (138'). I have had opportunities to attend a Christian school in Prince George and play sports on many different sports teams. I love playing basketball and volleyball. In grade 7/8 I was playing on the senior girls team for both of those sports. I love to keep active and just have fun.

One of my most recent (past 3/4 years) skills that I am slowly acquiring has been photography. There are a few reason why I love taking pictures:

1. It captures a moment in time that you may never be have to experience again in the same way.

2. Creates a portfolio of your life and mine.

3. Photography has opened my eyes more and more to the creation God has made which is all around us everyday to admire.

4. Expresses a different side of people whether they are behind or in front of a camera. You are able to either put on a new face or outfit and be anyone you want to be. Even if it is for a short period of time.

5. Gives me an excuse to be outside, stop on the side of the road on a car trip to catch a great moment, even just hanging out with strangers at a wedding or getting a great seat on the sideline at basketball games.

Some highlights from the past few years:

Three of the four shaved our heads for cancer. My little brother was diagnosed with Acute Lymphatic Leukemia. 50+ people shaved their heads to raise money for my family, for flights and places to stay while my mom and him were in Vancouver for treatment for 7 months. My younger sister and I both shaved our heads for him. The horrid thing was, at one point he had all his hair while my sister and I had none! I was not impressed. In my Grade 10 year I spent 3 days on a canoe trip on the lake chain called Bowron Lakes. This was our group. Mildly dysfunctional but it was still a lot of fun. I would have to say this is a very good depiction of the rest of the week with them.

One Thanksgiving of 2009 my family, friends and boyfriend all went to a place called hte Ancient Forest for a hike. The water was starting to freeze and at one point Graeme (boyfriend) and I were standing under a frozen water fall and to our surprise gave way. However the good part was that I didn't fall in, just one of Graeme's feet were soaked for the rest of the day. I kind of felt sorry for him, but we all found it fairly amusing.

High School Graduation: 2010

My friends and I love playing outside, especially in fields and by rivers.

Before school started for the 2011 fall semester two of my best friends and I went to Victoria and went camping for 2 days on a beach called Mystic Beach. We had a lot of fun!

Thanksgiving 2011: Graeme took me on a surprise date to Vancouver's boardwalk and then later to the Aquarium. It was was a blast.

January 2012: Finding new spots in Abbotsford to play and take pictures with Graeme.
